ISBE District Reorganization School District Reorganization is the umbrella term which includes consolidation, school district conversion, partial elementary unit district formation, annexation (detachment and dissolution), high school deactivation, and cooperative high school attendance centers. Financial incentives are available for the above listed options except for detachment and annexation and high school deactivation.

The Will County Regional Board of School Trustees consists of seven elected officials plus the Regional Superintendent of Schools who serves as ex-officio secretary.

The Regional Board of School Trustees meets quarterly and will hold special meetings as needed.

The Regional Superintendent provides guidance on procedures and legal requirements when people and school districts want to transfer property to a neighboring school district.

The Regional Board of School Trustees conducts hearings on detachment/annexation and school district reorganization petitions.

Depending on the type of petition, the Regional Board of School Trustees and/or the Regional Superintendent of Schools will either approve or deny the petition.
