According to Illinois School Code, the responsibility of overseeing the Illinois High School Equivalency Testing Program is entrusted to the Regional Superintendent's Office. Passing one of the IHSE test offerings entitles registrants (17 years of age or older without a high school diploma) to receive a high school equivalency certificate.
Candidates looking to complete high school equivalency are required to take and pass the “Constitution Test” which includes both the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions, as well as the Flag Test. There is no cost to take the Constitution Test, and can be completed before or after the high school equivalency exam. If you have already passed the high school level Constitution Test, you do not need to take it again. You can simply provide proof of passing to your Regional Office of Education.
