Each Regional Office of Education is responsible for conducting two types of Bus Driver trainings. The 8-hour initial training is required for all new school bus drivers prior to getting a bus permit, and the annual 2-hour refresher workshop is required in the 12 month period prior to renewing their school bus permit.
Experienced drivers must take a 2-hour refresher workshop annually, and all new drivers must take an 8-hour training in school bus driver safety and first aid, as prescribed by the Illinois State Board of Education and administered by the ROE.

You must sign up for a class ahead of time.

Due to space limitations, walk-ins may not be allowed to participate in class.

No Children or Visitors are allowed in Bus Classes.

Please be prompt. Anyone more than 5 minutes late will not be admitted to the class.

The fee for both the initial and refresher classes is $10.00 per driver. Payment must be made as a cashier's check or money order within 30 days of attending the class to the Will County Regional Office of Education.

Please bring a pen or pencil.

Please bring food or beverages based on the time that you will be attending the class.

The Refresher Class is a 2-hour session. The Initial Class is an 8-hour session. See available schedule for more details.

Please ensure your phone is fully charged, as it will be required for refreshers during the session. If you do not have a phone, you will need to share with a classmate.
